Bersih switches venue of gathering

KUALA TERENGGANU: The Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) held a ceramah in Batu Anam, Manir, here despite not having a police permit.

The rally was scheduled to be held in Batu Burok but was changed to Manir after the organiser decided to have the event at a PAS base here.

Bersih wanted to use the rally to raise the issue over the rejection of bail for two men alleged to have inflicted injuries on a policeman during a Batu Burok rally last Sept 8.

However, the Kuala Terengganu High Court granted bail to Muhamad Azman Abd Aziz, 21, from Pasir Panjang and Suwandi Ab Ghani, 38, from Kampung Binjai Rendah, Marang, yesterday.

The two had earlier claimed trial to the charges against them.
